Why I broke tradition to invite Muslim clerics to my pulpit – Pastor Kumuyi explains
Pastor William Kumuyi, founder of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, has revealed the reasoning behind his decision to invite Muslim clerics to share their perspectives from his church’s pulpit.
He shared his thoughts during a sermon on Monday at the Change Makers International (CMI) conference, held at the General Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Elekahia, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The unusual sight of Muslim clerics wearing caps and addressing the congregation from the church’s pulpit has sparked a flurry of discussion and debate on social media, with many people sharing their thoughts and opinions on the matter.
The images have generated widespread attention and curiosity, prompting Kumuyi to explain the motivation behind his unconventional move.
Reacting to the controversies in a now-viral video, pastor Kumuyi noted that he made the decision because the conference was held in a stadium and not within the church’s hallowed walls.
He said: “People were asking, Pastor WF, what are you looking at, look at that man having his cap on. Yes, we are in the stadium, we are not in the church building, and so I do not have to challenge him, he has his cap on.”
