Day 2 of #EndBadGovernance: Protests gain strength in Port Harcourt
The #EndBadGovernance protest in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, intensified on Friday, as a large crowd gathered at Pleasure Park to voice their discontent with Nigeria’s economic challenges.
The demonstrations, which commenced on August 1, 2024, seek to bring attention to the country’s hardships and prompt government action.
Building on the momentum from Thursday’s nationwide protests, Nigerians continued to mobilize under the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria banner, venting their frustrations and calling for reforms.
Nigerians, galvanized by Kenya’s youth-led protests, initiated the “#EndBadGovernanceInNigeria” online protests, committing to a 10-day campaign.
The demonstrators are infuriated by President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, which have resulted in widespread inflation, currency devaluation, and intensified hardship for ordinary citizens.
President Tinubu recognizes the reforms’ adverse effects but insists they are crucial for Nigeria’s economic recovery and long-term prosperity.
