IEDPU mourns Saraki’s matriarch
The death of the matriarch of the Saraki family of Ilorin, Chief (Mrs) Florence Morenikeji Saraki, has been described as a big loss not only to the renowned family but also to the good people of Ilorin Emirate and the nation at large.
This assertion was made by the National President of Ilorin Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji AbdulMumini Ayo Abdulmalik, while reacting to the death of Mrs Saraki.
Mrs Saraki, the widow of a former Senate Leader and the immediate past Waziri of Ilorin, late
Dr Abubakar Olusola Saraki, died on Tuesday evening according to a close family source.
In a statement signed by the Union’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Nurudeen Ibrahim, the President recalled that the late matriarch was an embodiment of humility, hard work and fraternity.
Alhaji Abdulmalik sympathised with the Waziri of Ilorin and a former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, CON; former Minister of State in the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, Senator Rukayat Gbemisola Saraki, CON, as well as other members of the illustrious Saraki family on the demise of their mother.
The statement also condoled with the Kwara State Government, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, on the death of a senior member of Ilorin Emirate community and Kwara state.
Alhaji Abdulmalik prayed Allah to grant the former Senate President and his siblings the fortitude to bear the loss of their matriarch.
