Video: “Every day is for the thief, one day is for the owner”: Nigerian soldier caught exploiting drivers in viral clip
A Nigerian Army soldier has found himself in serious trouble after being caught exploiting car drivers in a viral video circulating on social media.
The video shows the unidentified uniformed man being caught by a senior officer, who had disguised himself as a civilian to expose the ‘lawless’ soldier notorious for harassing motorists.
In a sting operation, the senior officer handed the soldier a marked 1,000-naira note, which the unsuspecting soldier accepted and kept with his other ill-gotten gains, sealing his fate.

While reacting to the incident, some netizens on Facebook argued that some of the soldiers were being forced to do the dirty job due to their poor salaries and allowances while others cited greed as the key driver of the unceremonious act.
Joseph Ayuba said, “I do not in any way support this act but we must also not forget the fact that most of them are being pushed to this because of the poor salaries and allowances they are receiving.”
SL Mad on his part, extols the senior officer for his brave and decisive action. He said, “Kudos to the senior military officer for taking decisive action against corruption within the ranks. “Government please increase their salary, they are the pride of the nation, they deserve the best, if the Nigeria Army is been paid well I don’t think they will involve their selves in such an act, Please do something about it, most of those people have families remember,” said Chucks Ge Nel Ral.
Tunji Oyelakin commented, “Nigerian Government should do something ungently on the wellbeing of our gallant soldiers and even the entire citizens before the story we change, How can a soldier that ready to die for country be paid #48,000 for a month and political earn millions monthly. I pity the political on a day that the table will change.”
