Nigerian lady alleges stalking, threats after rejecting relationship
In a distressing account that has sparked widespread concern, Anike Akoriola, a user on X (formerly Twitter), has come forward alleging a sustained campaign of harassment and threats by a man she has repeatedly refused to enter into a relationship with.
Anike’s ordeal sheds light on the distressing reality faced by individuals grappling with persistent unwanted advances.
According to Anike’s narrative, she has been subjected to unwelcome attention from Oyerinde Olumide Ahmed since 2012, despite consistently rebuffing his romantic overtures.
The situation escalated with Ahmed’s relentless pursuit, characterized by incessant phone calls amounting to more than 50 attempts per day, as well as an unwelcome appearance at her workplace in January 2023, after obtaining her address from an online business advertisement.
In her plea for support on X-ng, Anike conveyed her mounting distress, recounting years of futile attempts to deter Ahmed’s unwanted advances. She described resorting to various measures, including involving family members and friends, yet finding no respite from the persistent harassment. Even after repeated interventions, Ahmed’s unwelcome communication persisted, causing significant distress and anxiety for Anike.
The situation reached a tipping point recently when Anike received a call from Ahmed, further intensifying her unease and prompting her to seek assistance from the online community.
Despite Anike’s explicit requests to cease contact, Ahmed’s continued pursuit has left her feeling threatened and emotionally distressed.
In response to the allegations, Oyerinde Olumide Ahmed briefly addressed the matter via his social media account, @oyerindeolumide, seemingly downplaying the severity of the situation and emphasizing personal privacy.
