Chief of Army Staff pledges commitment to end rampaging insecurity, praises personnel

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment and desire to end terrorism, rampaging banditry, and all other forms of external and internal hostility that threaten the country’s peace.

Lagbaja gave the assurance in his Easter message to troops of the Nigerian Army in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

He asked all officers and soldiers to use the season to pray for ongoing operational victories and continue to promote the ideals and virtues of love, peace, and sacrifice in carrying out their constitutional duties.

The military chief emphasised that the welfare of officers and soldiers, including training and the provision of the needed equipment, will always be prioritised.

He acknowledged the officers and soldiers of the army for their doggedness in tackling the numerous security challenges bedeviling Nigeria as a nation.

Lagbaja further praised them for their commitment, courage, resilience, and professionalism.

While still grieving the recent unwarranted and gruesome murder of personnel in Okuama community of Delta, which occurred on March 14, he urged everyone to remain steadfast, diligent, and committed to the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities as part of efforts to keep the West African nation safe.

He said, “Let me use this opportunity to acknowledge and thank you, my officers and soldiers, for your doggedness in tackling the numerous security challenges bedevilling us as a nation.

“You have displayed much commitment, courage, resilience, and professionalism. For this, I say well done and charge you not to rest on your oars until we have eliminated all forms of threat to our country.

“While still grieving the recent unwarranted and gruesome murder of our colleagues in Okuama community of Delta, which occurred on March 14, I urge you all to remain steadfast, diligent, and committed to the discharge of our constitutional responsibilities,” he said.
