Nnamdi Kanu gives reason for wearing same outfit to court
The head of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has opened up about his courtroom dress and explained his constant wardrobe choices.
Kanu has been spotted wearing white Fendi clothing every time he appears in court since his trial began in 2021.
When a journalist questioned about his repeated attire during Tuesday’s court appearance, he replied that he keeps wearing the same dress because he was not given another one in replacement.
He said, “They didn’t give me any outfit.”
Mr Kanu will remain in custody as the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, on Tuesday, declined to grant him bail.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the presiding judge, Justice Binta Nyako also rejected Kanu’s preliminary objection, seeking an order that the State Security Service meet certain conditions before his trial could proceed.
The judge held that the court could not dictate to the security agency how best to perform its duty per international best practices. She said the best the court could do, in the circumstances, was to give an order for an accelerated hearing of the matter.
