Tragedy strikes! Unilorin bus driver dies while transporting student to campus
In a tragic turn of events, passengers aboard a bus going from Sanrab to Unilorin were met with the sudden demise of their driver while en route.
The incident unfolded as passengers were immersed in their activities, with one individual, engrossed in reading the Quran on their phone, initially unaware of the unfolding crisis.
It wasn’t until a fellow passenger urgently called their attention that they realized the gravity of the situation.
With the driver incapacitated and the bus veering off course, swift action was imperative to avert further danger.
Following the distressing episode, passengers rallied to aid the stricken driver, administering assistance and attempting to revive him to no avail.
Despite the efforts of medical students among the passengers and subsequent transportation to the school clinic, the driver was declared dead upon arrival, leaving the passengers in a state of shock and sorrow.
The rapid sequence of events unfolded within a mere half-hour, leaving an indelible mark on those who bore witness to the unforeseen tragedy.
Reflecting on the sobering incident, Umar Isma’eel, who is also among the passengers, expressed profound emotions, grappling with the stark reality of mortality and the unpredictability of life’s twists and turns.
He said, “Everything happened within 30 minutes.
“I have always heard and seen videos of people dying in unexpected situations but I have never witnessed one myself. This man was on my laps on the way to the clinic 😢. I was so emotional 😭. I just had to control myself. The other lady that followed us to the hospital was already crying.
He added, “Death will come to everyone and we never know when our time will be. We should always be conscious of this and engage in good deeds at all times. I am just happy for him that he died a fasting Muslim. This incidence is definitely going to have a lasting effect on me. “
The University of Ilorin has not reacted to this incident as of the time of this report.
