Nigerian minister warns women: Talk back to your husbands at your peril
Women Affairs Minister Uju Kennedy-Ohaneye has advised women to refrain from arguing with their husbands, cautioning that such disputes could have fatal consequences.
Speaking at a gathering of State Ministries of Women Affairs Commissioners in Abuja on Wednesday, Kennedy-Ohaneye emphasized the potential risks associated with engaging in conflicts with spouses.
The minister urged women to prioritize peace within their homes, emphasizing that maintaining harmony is crucial.
Kennedy-Ohaneye stressed that a peaceful household is largely influenced by the woman’s efforts, emphasizing the significant role women play in fostering domestic tranquility.
She pleaded with women to avoid unnecessary conflicts, underscoring the importance of fostering a peaceful environment for the well-being of the family.
“I am equally begging my women not to look for trouble, not even at home. Maintain peace in your home because if a home is peaceful, the woman has 80 per cent to contribute to that.
“If you need peace, you can equally achieve it.
“Keep your mouth shut. Talking back does not yield fruit, rather it leads to death and destruction, it leads to bringing up bad children for society.
“Keep your mouth shut, it does not make you a fool but a wise person. When the man is shouting and saying all sorts of things, act like a fool and keep your mouth shut.”
