MTN Nigeria network outage sparks customer reactions as service fades out  for hours

MTN Nigeria, the country’s leading telecommunications network, experienced an unexpected outage, leaving customers across the nation worried and frustrated.

The disruption persisted for about three hours, during which users faced connectivity issues.

The sudden network outage sparked widespread concerns among MTN Nigeria customers, who took to social media platforms to express their frustration and seek answers regarding the disruption in service.

While reacting,  MTN Nigeria blamed the network challenge on several fibre cuts, affecting voice and data service.

The company a holds a prominent position as the leading telecommunications network in the country, followed closely by competitors such as Airtel, Glo, and 9mobile.

On social media platform X, formerly Twitter, Nigerian users voiced their frustrations and concerns over the network outage, highlighting the inconvenience caused.

Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, wrote on X

“This MTN network issue could potentially cause huge financial losses for many businesses. I hope they will find a way to address and resolve these issues promptly. “

@ArewaTwitter also wrote: “Dear Minister for Communications @NgComCommission , MTN network @MTNNG seized for almost 3 hours without any warning and apology. I lost a transaction for almost 400 Million due to this senseless act.

“Please they should pay me for damages. I am traumatized. I am shaking as I type this 💔.”
