AFCON: ‘Bring home the Nations Cup, no gree for anybody’- Sanwo-Olu told Super Eagles players
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has called on the Super Eagles of Nigeria not to ‘gree for anybody’ while urging the star-studded team to deliver the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations title.
Recall that Lagos State hosted the former AFCON champions to a send-forth dinner on Wednesday before they eventually departed Lagos for Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, for the tournament proper.
“Throwback to this beautiful night of excellence and laughter as we hosted the Super Eagles before they set off for #Afcon2023,” Sanwo-Olu wrote on his X handle on Thursday.
“I am looking forward to their first match, and the message to them was clear: ‘No gree for anybody’.
“Bring home the Nations Cup.”
The 2023 AFCON, which will be decided in Côte d’Ivoire, will run from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are drawn in Group A with hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau.
