Anthony Joshua sets to face UFC legend,Francis Ngannou
The promotional teams of Matchroom and Queensberry announced on Friday night that Anthony Joshua will face UFC legend Francis Ngannou.
The boxing world was caught by surprise when Ngannou faced Tyson Fury in his professional boxing debut in October of last year. Although the former UFC fighter lost by points via a split decision.
Joshua’s show promoter, Hearn, also confirmed the fight via X.
He wrote, “Tonight we confirm it’s a done deal! @anthonyjoshua v @francis_ngannou collide on a huge night in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia—press conference Jan 15 in London with full details dropping soon!”
The fight is expected to take place on March 9, and a press conference will be held in London on January 15.
In the meantime, Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will fight to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999 when they lock horns on 17 February in Saudi Arabia.
Fury is the WBC champion, with Ukraine’s Usyk, holding the WBA, WBO and IBF belts.
