15-year-old student with hearing disabilities becomes one-day honourary police officer in Dubai

The Dubai Police, through the People of Determination Empowerment Council, has made a dream come true for Maitha Yousuf Ahmed, a 15-year-old student with hearing disabilities.

Bestowing upon her a unique opportunity to step into the shoes of a police officer for a day, the experience was nothing short of extraordinary.

Colonel Omar Musa Ashour, Deputy Director of Naif Police Station, extended a warm welcome to Maitha, emphasizing Dubai Police’s steadfast dedication to realizing the dreams of children.

Clad in a custom-made police uniform, Maitha embarked on a memorable journey that included luxurious patrols, visits to various police stations, and interactions with dedicated officers.

Col. Ashour highlighted the significance of such initiatives, stating, “This gesture is part of Dubai Police’s social role in spreading happiness and fostering trust in police alongside their security responsibilities.”

During her two-hour stint as Deputy Director of Naif Station, Maitha engaged in guided tours, interacted with personnel, and gained insights into the intricacies of policing work.

Her journey continued with a visit to the R&D Centre, where Lieutenant Colonel Dr Khaled Al Mazrouei provided an overview of innovative operations fostering creativity and talent in policing and security.

Lt. Col. Al Mazrouei underlined the centre’s commitment to nurturing talent and supporting groundbreaking projects. Maitha also explored the Smart Police Station (SPS), where she learned about the 24/7 automated services provided without human intervention.

A special moment unfolded as Maitha met Ms Zainab Hussein, Editor-in-Chief of Khalid Magazine, a publication by Security Media aimed at cultivating positive values and concepts among children, contributing significantly to their cultural and security awareness.

As a token of appreciation, the People of Determination Empowerment Council presented Maitha Yousuf with a commemorative gift, extending heartfelt wishes for her continued excellence and success in both personal and academic endeavors.

This heartwarming day not only brought joy to Maitha but also showcased the Dubai Police’s unwavering commitment to making dreams come true and fostering a stronger bond with the community.
