Army chief inaugurates basic health facility, equipment in Lagos

The Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lieut Gen Taoreed Lagbaja has officially commissioned a newly refurbished Primary Health Center with needed equipment in Isheri, Egbe Idimu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.

Speaking at the launching event, Mr Lagbaja who was represented by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division Nigerian Army Major General Muhammed Usman stated the project as one of multiple of its kind embarked upon by his administration in less than 6 months. He added that the project will provide necessary aid to the people with health challenges in area where it is mostly needed.

Usman noted the project would not only benefit the targeted communities but also serve as support for military officers nationwide.

“The Chief of Army Staff’s Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation Projects was particularly introduced to provide support to communities of serving Senior Officers of the Nigerian Army across the country, who through dedication to duty and service to the nation have risen to the enviable rank of Major General, with the objective of complimenting the existing basic amenities, services and infrastructures in such communities,” said the COAS.

Moreso, he noted: “It is therefore heartwarming that we are here today to commission one of such projects Egbe, Idimu Local Council Development Area in honour of Major General Sunday Araoye.”

General Lagbaja also commended President Bola Tinubu for his invaluable support and guidance for the military personnels and Nigerian Army in general.

In a similar message, the Chairman of Egbe Idimu Local Council Development Area, Hon Kunle Sanyaolu expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Army for the laudable project. He reiterated that the Military is commonly known for the provision of security for the populace in the past; however, the present administration has taken a step forward in assisting his LCDA with the laudable facility.

Mr Kunle maintained that the Primary Health Centre would be seen as more of privately owned in terms of management to keep it beneficial for the people for longer time.

The project Executor, Major General Sunday Araoye, in his welcome address, also expressed profound gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for giving him the opportunity to impact positively in the lives of people in his community.
