Security operatives apprehend six suspected Sagamu cultists, Rep member
Security operatives in Ogun State, on Wednesday, traced the violent cultist attack that happened in Sagamu at the weekend to six suspected cultists, all of whom were said to be affiliated with the official residence of a member of the state House of Assembly.
Hon. Damilare Bello, a member representing Sagamu State Constituency 1, was accused of harbouring the fleeing cultists.
The suspects, after actionable intelligence by a team of security operatives, were apprehended at the residence of the lawmaker.
“The arrested criminals were Damilare Bello Mohammed aka DRE, Debbo Animashaun, Bamidele Saheed, Ismaila Onitire, Adewale Otesanya and Tobi Owoade,” source revealed.
Many dangerous weapons, including guns, were recovered from the suspects and are currently undergoing further investigations at the Department of State Service (DSS) custody.
Recall, Hon. Bello was arrested by the DSS for masterminding the violent protest staged by irate youth in February this year in Sagamu over the naira redesign policy by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The protest led to the vandalisation of several public and private properties. Among the destroyed infrastructures were 10 commercial banks.
