National chair raises alarm over APC Caucus launched by Aregbesola, cautions members
The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru has sounded a strong alarm over the party caucus launched by the former governor and minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola, yesterday.
He emphasized the non-existence of such group/fraction in the architecture of the party’s constitution.
Mr. Basiru maintained that the ex-minister has the legal right to form any association of his choice; however, such an association should never be attached to the APC.
He, therefore, cautioned party members against# joining the unconstitutional fraction.
“The APC constitution does not recognize caucus as an organ or structure of the party. There is freedom of association under the Nigerian constitution, so anyone is entitled to form an association, but as far as the APC is concerned, we do not recognize the kind of contraption the former minister is putting together. At best is a political club of his fancy and has no basis in the structure and organization of the APC,” the national chairman said.
He continued, “Genuine APC members should be wary of the antics of those people whom we cannot identify as still members of our party.”
