FCT minister, Wike sets to begin demolition of structures
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has approved the destruction of Garki, Jabi and other 28 illegal structures in Abuja.
Wike, who promised to exonerate FCT during his swearing-in, will be commending implementation of the pledge with already surveyed structures by the Federal Capital Development Authority before the present administration.
According to FCTA, the demolition will affect close to 6,000 buildings that have been marked in an effort to rid the territory of shanties and illegal structures.
The FCTA said the demolition would affect 30 areas across the Federal Capital Territory.
Wike also noted that his administration will be intolerant of street marketing and directed all road vendors to get themselves into designated marketplaces, stressing that it endangers insecurity.
