President Tinubu condemns military misbehaviour in Niger, receives Benin counterpart in Abuja
President Bola Tinubu has denounced the military move to hijack power from his Niger Republic counterpart, Mohamed Bazoum.
The ECOWAS Chairman restated this in a closed door meeting with President Talon of the Benin Republic at Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.
In the meeting aimed to deliberate support for the neighbouring country, President Tinubu described the plot as a military misbehaviour and development that undermines the constituted authority.
Addressing the media personnel after the meeting, the Chairman of ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, re-emphasised his commitment to working with other ECOWAS leaders to promote stability and peace in the West African region.
He disclosed that President Talon would proceed to Niamey, the capital city of Niger, to address the matter.
Also speaking, President Talon told press that the situation in Niger was a cause for concern for ECOWAS and President Tinubu.
