Governor Adeleke is a Muslim — OSMC counters MURIC, warns against misinformation
The Osun State Muslim Community (OSMC) has strongly denounced the recent statement made by the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) regarding Governor Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke.
In a statement released on Sunday June 11, 2023, OSMC President, Alhaji Mustafa Olawuyi, expressed the group discontentment with MURIC’s position, which is based on erroneous information about the Governor.
He emphasized the need to clarify unequivocally that Governor Adeleke is a devout Muslim, “it is unjustifiable for anyone to hold a different perception based on his unwavering declaration of the Kalimah and his unwavering faith in the oneness and supremacy of Allah,” Olawuyi said.
While acknowledging the ongoing dispute between former Governors Ogbeni Abdul Rauf Aregbesola and Alhaj Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, Olawuyi noted that the dispute is being addressed at higher levels.
He assured Governor Adeleke and the Muslim community in Osun State of their unwavering support.
The OSMC president described Adeleke as a righteous, diligent, and trustworthy Muslim brother who continues to bring positive changes to the State.
OSMC acknowledged MURIC‘s commitment and sincerity in advocating for social justice in Nigeria.
Olawuyi, however, questioned the source of the information, urging MURIC to diligently verify the information from reliable sources and organizations on the ground to prevent such misunderstandings and avoid future embarrassments.
The full statement reads;
“Osun State Muslim Community notes with displeasure, the position expressed by the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) which is based on complete misinformation on the person of His Excellency, The Governor of Osun State, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke.
“We wish to affirm without fear of contradiction that our Governor is a Muslim and no one has any right to think otherwise of someone who pronounces the Kalimah and never denies the faith in the belief of oneness and supremacy of Allah.
“We affirm that the feud between former Governors of Osun State, Ogbeni Abdul Rauf Aregbesola and Alhaj Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola is being addressed at the appropriate higher levels and that should be very much appreciated and supported.
“We seize this opportunity to assure His Excellency, Governor Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke and generality of Muslims in the State that we give full support to Governor Nurudeen Adeleke as a good, hardworking and trustworthy brother Muslim who is performing positive wonders in the State every moment.
“We appreciate MURIC’s effort and sincerity in advocating for social justice in Nigeria. However, we would advise that the source of any information to be disseminated should be carefully verified from appropriate sources and organizations on ground to always prevent such embarrassment in the future.”
