Adeleke Warns Against Palace Invasion in Ikirun, Orders Security Agencies to Secure Palace
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has issued a strong warning against any planned invasion or illegal takeover of the Ikirun palace, directing security agencies to immediately mobilise and secure the palace premises.
In a statement released on Wednesday evening, the governor cautioned that any prince or individual found to be involved in the alleged plot would be held accountable, stressing that the palace remains sealed pending the conclusion of ongoing litigation over the Akirun stool.
Governor Adeleke emphasised that his administration would not tolerate any action capable of disrupting peace in Ikirun, noting that the matter of the Akirun stool is currently before a court of law.
“Any attempt to disturb the peace of Ikirun will not be tolerated by our government. The Akirun stool is a matter before the court and until the matter is resolved, no resort to self-help will be tolerated,” the governor said.
He explained that peace was restored to the community through an executive order and clarified that only such an order could authorise the reopening of the palace.
“I restored peace to Ikirun Community by an executive order, and it is only through my executive order that the palace can be re-opened. The recent effort of opening was just for the clearing and cleaning up of the environment so as to preserve one of our best traditional monuments,” Adeleke stated.
The governor further directed all security agencies to ensure the palace is adequately protected against any illegal occupation.
“I hereby direct security agencies to secure the palace and prevent any illegal takeover of the palace. All efforts should be deployed to sustain and maintain the peace of Ikirun,” he added.
The statement was signed by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed.
