Osun Muslim Community Mourns Death of Ikirun Grand Imam

The Osun State Muslim Community has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Grand Imam of Ikirun, Alhaji Yunus Balogun, describing his passing as a great loss to the Islamic community in the state and beyond.

In a condolence message issued on behalf of the community, the General Secretary of the Osun State Muslim Community, Alhaji Akeredolu AbdulGaniyy, said the late cleric was an erudite Islamic scholar whose contributions to the growth of Islam would be long remembered.

According to the statement, Alhaji Balogun, during his lifetime, deployed his vast knowledge of Arabic and Islamic jurisprudence to the advancement of the Independent Shari’a Panel and other areas where his scholarly expertise was required.

“We hereby express our heartfelt condolences on the demise of the Grand Imam of Ikirun, Alhaji Yunus Balogun. During his lifetime, he contributed his deep knowledge of Arabic and Islamic jurisprudence to the enhancement of the Independent Shari’a Panel and other areas where his scholastic distinction was needed,” the statement read.

The community also commiserated with the Ifelodun Muslim Community, the President of the Osun State Muslim Community, Alhaji Mustafa Olawuyi, as well as the immediate family and dependants of the late Grand Imam.

“May Allah grant the bereaved the fortitude to bear this great loss. We pray that Allah forgives all his shortcomings and grants him direct entry into Jannatul Firdaus,” AbdulGaniyy added.
