The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has stated that it possesses no evidence to back singer Peter Okoye’s allegation that his brothers and former music partners, Jude Okoye and Paul Okoye, fraudulently withdrew $800,000 from their joint company account.

Peter, popularly known as Mr P, had in 2024 petitioned the anti-graft agency, accusing Jude of diverting funds belonging to the defunct music group, P-Square, operating 47 undeclared bank accounts, and altering the shareholding structure of their jointly owned company, Northside Entertainment Ltd.

During proceedings on May 23, 2025, Peter testified that new findings revealed Jude and Paul allegedly withdrew and shared over $800,000 between March 2023 and October 2024. However, under cross-examination by defence counsel, Clement Onwuenwunor (SAN), he adjusted the alleged period to 2013–2014. He also insisted that Jude controlled 47 bank accounts and held an 80% stake in Northside Entertainment.

At the resumed hearing on Friday, November 28, Punch reported that EFCC counsel, Mohammed Bashir, informed Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Lagos State Special Offences Court, Ikeja, that the commission had no documentation to support the alleged withdrawals.

“We do not have it. It is his evidence. Let him prove it. I can’t give what I don’t have,” Bashir told the court.

The EFCC further denied having any records of the alleged 47 bank accounts, while the defence tendered Corporate Affairs Commission documents contradicting Peter’s claim of an 80% ownership stake.

The trial continues.
