Soludo Wins Anambra Governorship Election
The incumbent Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has secured a second term in office after winning the Anambra governorship election held on Saturday, November 8.
Soludo, who contested under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), clinched victory in a landslide, winning in all 21 local government areas (LGAs) of the state.
According to results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), a total of 584,054 votes were cast across the state. Soludo polled 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 99,445 votes. Other parties trailed behind, with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) recording 8,208 votes, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) securing 1,401 votes.
The State Collation Officer, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, declared Soludo the winner after the official collation of results at INEC’s headquarters in Awka on Sunday.
Soludo’s re-election reinforces APGA’s continued dominance in Anambra politics and marks another milestone in his administration’s developmental agenda for the state.
