Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, today paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House, where she lauded the administration’s management of the nation’s economy.

During the meeting, Okonjo-Iweala commended the government’s economic policies, noting that Nigeria had demonstrated resilience and stability despite global and domestic challenges. She stressed that such economic steadiness was critical for attracting foreign investment, boosting trade, and fostering sustainable growth.

The former Nigerian finance minister acknowledged that while the country still faces developmental hurdles, the signs of stability under Tinubu’s leadership were encouraging for both local and international stakeholders.

Her remarks come at a time when Nigeria is pushing for deeper engagement with the global economy, including expanding non-oil exports and strengthening trade partnerships under the WTO framework.
