Popular Nigerian music star, Davido, has unfollowed Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo on Instagram following a heated online controversy involving leaked private messages and accusations of insincerity.

The drama began when controversial social media critic, VeryDarkMan, released screenshots of a WhatsApp chat allegedly showing Iyabo Ojo criticizing Davido’s stance on the late singer Mohbad.

In the leaked messages, Iyabo Ojo expressed disappointment in the DMW boss for publicly claiming to support the “Justice for Mohbad” movement while still following embattled artist Naira Marley on Instagram.

“My problem is not even with that black whatever, it is Davido who flew down like he claimed to fight for justice, but he still dey follow Naira Marley,” Iyabo wrote.

She added, “That means he was chasing clout. I’m so disappointed and to think he has been saying he is the only superstar artist who stood by Mohbad. Just fake love 001.”

The accusations, which have since gone viral, appear to have triggered Davido’s decision to unfollow Iyabo Ojo on Instagram. A recent check shows that while Davido has unfollowed the actress, Iyabo Ojo still follows him.

Mohbad, a rising star in Nigeria’s music scene, died in September 2023 under mysterious circumstances, sparking national outrage. Several celebrities, including Davido, Falz, and Zlatan, participated in candlelight vigils and public protests to demand justice.

Iyabo Ojo emerged as one of the most vocal advocates for Mohbad, even creating a WhatsApp group to mobilize efforts and push for accountability. However, she recently disclosed in an interview that she regrets pushing for Mohbad’s body to be exhumed for an autopsy.

The rift between Davido and Iyabo Ojo adds a new layer to the ongoing public discourse around Mohbad’s untimely death and the sincerity of celebrity involvement in social justice causes.
