IGP Egbetokun Hosts Retired Police Officers, Pledges Better Welfare for Pensioners

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on Monday, 1st July 2025, received delegations from the National Association of Retired Police Officers of Nigeria (NARPON) and retired officers under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) at the Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja.

The NARPON team was led by retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police Paul O. Ochonu, while the CPS delegation was led by retired Commissioner of Police Henry Njoku Esq.

Both groups expressed their gratitude to the IGP for his unwavering commitment to the welfare of police retirees and his responsive handling of issues affecting their well-being.

The discussions focused on pressing concerns around police pensions and the challenges many retirees currently face.

In a bid to find sustainable solutions, both parties engaged in constructive dialogue aimed at ensuring timely and efficient disbursement of entitlements.

IGP Egbetokun assured the visiting delegations that their concerns are receiving the highest level of attention from the police leadership and the Federal Government.

“The current leadership of the Force remains committed to prioritising the welfare of both serving and retired officers,” the IGP said. “We are taking proactive steps to improve the overall well-being of our retirees.”

He acknowledged the significant contributions of retired officers to national security and stressed the importance of supporting them in their post-service years.

The IGP reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address the concerns of police pensioners and keep their welfare at the forefront.

The meeting marks another step in ongoing efforts to reform the welfare system within the Nigeria Police Force.
