The appointment of Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (Rtd.) as the Administrator of Rivers State marks a pivotal shift in the state governance, bringing a seasoned military strategist to the helm during a period of crisis.

A former Chief of Naval Staff under President Muhammadu Buhari, Ibas boasts a distinguished career in maritime security and defense, with extensive experience in strategic planning and leadership. His tenure as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Ghana further highlights his diplomatic acumen.

With over four decades of military service, Ibas has held key positions, including Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command and Chief of Logistics, reinforcing his expertise in operational management and security oversight. His leadership in tackling piracy, crude oil theft, and maritime threats will be invaluable as he assumes control of Rivers State.

In his new role, Ibas is expected to focus on securing federal assets, protecting oil and gas infrastructure, and restoring stability.
