President John Mahama has called for strict adherence to ethical and professional standards from prospective public office appointees, emphasizing the critical responsibility that comes with serving the nation.

Speaking at the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service held at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), on Sunday, January 12, 2025, the President highlighted the gravity of public service. He cautioned against complacency, reminding appointees of their obligation to uphold the highest standards of accountability.

“Those appointed to public office must understand that they will be held accountable to the highest ethical and professional benchmarks,” he declared. “If you are among those submitting CVs, be aware that this will not be an easy task. It certainly won’t be business as usual.”

President Mahama underscored the vital role of integrity in governance, urging officials to prioritize the collective welfare of Ghanaians. He stressed that public servants are stewards of the nation’s resources and trust, with a duty to deliver outcomes that align with national interests.

“We are stewards of the resources and trust granted to us by the sovereign people of Ghana,” he stated. “Our administration will prioritize good governance and uphold the principles that foster national progress and public trust.”
