As part of the ongoing Meet the People’s Tour, President Adama Barrow made a historic first official visit to The Gambia’s Upper River Region, engaging with residents of Tumana and Kantora constituencies.

The visit underscored the government’s transformative development agenda and received widespread applause from local leaders and residents.

During joint meetings, community representatives hailed the administration’s achievements in infrastructure and social services, including new roads, expanded healthcare facilities, electricity coverage, and improved water supply systems.

Farmers in the region expressed deep appreciation for agricultural support initiatives such as free seed distribution, fertilizer subsidies, and targeted programs that bolster their livelihoods.

A key highlight was President Barrow’s presentation of a GMD 4 million cheque under the GIRAV project. This grant will empower 13 farmers in horticulture and poultry production, furthering economic opportunities in Tumana and Kantora.

The president also unveiled plans for new road construction in both constituencies, reaffirming his commitment to sustainable development.

He urged citizens to embrace unity, peace, and stability as essential pillars for national progress, emphasizing that collective efforts are critical to achieving The Gambia’s long-term goals.
