NSC chairman Shehu Dikko applauds Super Eagles’ early AFCON qualification
The National Sports Commission (NSC) Chairman, Shehu Dikko, has commended the Super Eagles for their early qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Dikko extended his congratulations on Thursday in Abuja, shortly after Nigeria secured a spot in the continental tournament, thanks to Libya’s surprising 1-0 victory over Rwanda in a Group D encounter.
“Qualifying with two games to spare reflects the team’s hard work, commitment, and talent,” Dikko remarked, praising the Super Eagles’ performance throughout the qualifiers.
The Super Eagles clinched their place even before their match against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic later on Thursday. Nigeria now leads Group D with 10 points from four matches, while Benin Republic trails with six points from the same number of games. Rwanda sits third with five points from five games, and Libya is at the bottom with four points.
With this early qualification, the Super Eagles demonstrate their readiness to contend for the AFCON title in Morocco.
