Exclusive: Why promiscuous men favor married women as “side chicks”

In a recent discussion on marital infidelity, Nigerian Muslim marriage counselor Hajia Omolola Ruqoyat Fasaki, widely known as Mewolaka, shared her perspective on why promiscuous men increasingly seek married women as side partners, despite their marital commitments.

In a live video on her Facebook page, Mewolaka disputed the notion that married women cheat “by mistake.” She emphasized that, like men, women’s infidelities are often intentional, as multiple decisions are involved before any affair reaches a physical level.

Mewolaka outlined four reasons men may prefer married women as side partners. First, she pointed out that married women, in general, are more cautious about avoiding pregnancy in extramarital affairs than single women, who may use pregnancy as a way to secure a man’s commitment.

She also suggested that married women typically require less financial support than single women when engaging in extramarital relationships, which can be advantageous for men seeking a low-maintenance affair.

Another reason, according to Mewolaka, is that married women are generally less interested in becoming a second wife, reducing complications for men who wish to avoid long-term commitments.

Finally, she noted that some married women even contribute financially to these extramarital relationships, sometimes going so far as to spend significant sums on the men they are involved with.

Through her insights, Mewolaka sheds light on the motivations behind certain choices in extramarital dynamics, sparking reflection on the complexities of modern relationships.

Comenting on the video, Justice Prince said: “Infidelity is not a mistake it’s a choice. It’s a lack of self control, greed and lack of discipline.”

Adedeji Monsurat Adenike also remarked: “And those who seek succour from male friends during their down moments in marriage, the strange men take advantage of them knowing their challenges.”

Mutiat Olushesi highlighted the positions of Islam: “That’s why Islam says, ‘do not move to zinah’ and the prophet (saw) said that when a strange woman is in isolation with a strange man, shaitan will be their third party.”
