The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended former governor Rauf Aregbesola due to alleged anti-party activities.

The decision was made public through a letter signed by state party chairman Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal in Osogbo, the state capital.

“Following complaints of anti-party activities leveled against Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola by the Ilesa East Local Government Executive Committee, the State Executive Committee (SEC), after reviewing the allegations and in accordance with the powers vested in it by Article 21(3)(vi)(c) of the party’s Constitution, hereby suspends Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola from the party pending the outcome of an investigation,” the statement partly read.

“The party will not hesitate to enforce disciplinary measures on any member found violating the party’s constitution or engaging in anti-party conduct,” it added

Aregbesola’s group, Omoluabi Progressives, has been distancing itself from the APC for some time and has even started registering its members separately.

The move has sparked speculation about Aregbesola’s next political step, but he has remained silent on the matter.

It’s worth noting that Omoluabi Progressives plans to reveal its position on the 2026 governorship election by December.

The group’s chairman, Alhaji Abdulazeez Adesiji, emphasized their focus on reclaiming the state government in the 2026 elections. With Aregbesola’s loyalty and the group’s plans unclear, the political landscape in Osun State remains uncertain.
