President Tinubu appoints Prof Usman new NAHCON chairman
President Bola Tinubu has officially appointed Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman as the Executive Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
This appointment is expected to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of pilgrimage processes for Nigerian Muslims.
Professor Usman, a distinguished scholar in Islamic studies, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, having obtained qualifications from two prestigious Islamic institutions: the University of Madinah and Peshawar University in Pakistan. His academic background positions him as a leading figure in understanding and implementing Hajj-related programs.
With a solid foundation in Hajj operations, Professor Usman previously served as the Chairman of the Kano State Pilgrims Board. In that capacity, he successfully managed the logistics and operations for the largest quota of state pilgrims in Nigeria, showcasing his capability to oversee large-scale pilgrimage activities effectively.
The appointment is pending confirmation by the Senate, which will further solidify his position as the head of NAHCON.
President Tinubu has expressed high expectations for Professor Usman, urging him to conduct his duties with integrity, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to the nation’s interests.
