“Muyideen is not a Christian, free him to practise his religion”, Awikonko slams Agbala Gabriel
Famous Nigerian clergyman and philanthropist, Gabriel Ademola Amusan, popularly known as Agbala Gabriel, has sparked outrage once again over his alleged attempt to manipulate and silence Muyideen, an adult male whom he had previously supported and sheltered, amidst serious allegations against him.
Gabriel’s actions have drawn fierce criticism, this time around from the popular online radio presenter, Awikonko, who questioned his move over an attempt to coerce Muyideen to abandon his religion of Islam for Christianity and control the struggling man he had once helped.
Commenting on the saga, Abefe Adeoye, alias Awikonko Akanda Oro, a popular Facebook Yoruba current affairs analyst, slammed Agbala Gabriel for not allowing Muyideen to practice his region of Islam.
“He stated, ‘Agbala Gabriel’s rise to prominence came not through evangelism or preaching, but through philanthropy. He has made a positive impact on many lives, regardless of his controversial methods.
“However, his mistake, which we knew would soon burst, was failing to extend his kindness to Muyideen by setting him up with a house or land far away from (Agbala Gabriel), rather than trying to keep him close. He asked, ‘Why not show goodwill to Muyideen by giving him independence?”
Awikonko continued, ‘Muyideen is not a Christian; you met him outside of the church, meaning that he is a Muslim. So let him practice his religion. God led you to him, you’ve helped him, now set him free – as long as he’s not being used to lure others into the church.
“Muyideen has no serious advantage to bring to your church. Then you just release him,” Awikonko stressed.
Agabala Gabriel shot to stardom for his usual philanthropic, crowdfunding and building homes for the less privileged, including actors who are struggling with financial or physical challenges.
Before Muyideen’s case, he gained widespread popularity by helping a small-sized actress, Aunty Ramota, to crowdfund and construct a house for her.
Like Aunty Ramota and others, Muyideen’s life took a remarkable turn when came in contact with Pastor Gabriel while selling phone accessories on the street.
His family were not also left out in the benevolence. The pastor helped launch a prosperous business for Muyideen to make life meaningful for him and his household.
Despite the hands of goodness extended to him, Muyideen abandoned the house built by Agbala Gabriel as the cleric resorted to physical violence to instil discipline, forcing him to run for safety.
