Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, along with leaders from Bahrain, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates, will visit China this week, at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Scheduled for between May 28 to June 1, the visit will coincide with the opening ceremony of the 10th Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced the visit on Monday through its spokesperson, Hua Chunying.

According to the Chuning, the Tuesday visit to China seeks to assert its role as a mediator in the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel.

He said President Xi Jinping has called for an international peace conference to address and resolve the hostilities, positioning China as a key player in Middle Eastern peace efforts.

On the part of Egypt, this visit is an opportunity to reinforce its partnership with China, which has been growing steadily in recent years.

The China-Arab States Cooperation Forum, established in 2004, is a platform for dialogue and partnership between China and Arab countries which focuses on various sectors including trade, investment, and cultural exchange.

Other Presidents invited include Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Tunisian President Kais Saied and the United Arab Emirates’ President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
