Despite removal of my testicles and series of surgeries, I can’t still urinate via my manhood — Nollyhood actor Kola Oyewo

In a heart-wrenching revelation, renowned Nollywood actor, Kola Oyewo, opened up about his battle with prostate enlargement.

In an interview with a fellow Nollyhood actor, Kunle Afod, he detailed the challenges he faced, including surgeries and the removal of his testicles.

The actor recounted the onset of difficulties in July 2019, narrating moments when he struggled to reach the toilet in time. Upon seeking medical attention, extensive tests and scans revealed an enlarged prostate, a condition that led to a blocked urethra and a shortage of blood.

“Upon seeking medical attention, a battery of tests and scans at the hospital revealed an enlarged prostate,” said Kola Oyewo.

Expressing gratitude, he acknowledged that despite the diagnosis of a blocked urethra and blood shortage, the condition did not prove fatal, providing a moment of relief.

“This period was particularly challenging as my wife was simultaneously bedridden with a stroke, making it a trying time for my family,” Oyewo expressed heartfelt appreciation for the support of his children during this ordeal.

In a bid to find a solution, Oyewo faced the difficult decision of considering the removal of his testicles. However, the actor revealed that despite undergoing the procedure, the relief was not permanent, and he continued to struggle with urination through his penis.

“The doctor said the removal of the testicles would bring permanent relief. However, that wasn’t true because I still found it difficult to urinate with my penis,” he said.

Oyewo stated that he resisted another operation, saying, “When the doctor mentioned another operation, I resisted. I informed him that I would continue using the discharge pouch on me. I could not undergo another operation.”

Despite the challenges, Oyewo, now equipped with a discharge pouch, expressed optimism about his improved condition. He has successfully resumed his acting career, participating in various film productions and showcasing resilience in the face of adversity.

This revelation sheds light on the often-overlooked struggles faced by individuals dealing with medical conditions, even prominent figures in the entertainment industry.

Kola Oyewo’s story serves as an inspiration for others grappling with health challenges, emphasizing the importance of resilience and determination in the journey to recovery.
