More victims succumb to death after Kenya’s devastating gas explosion
More people have been confirmed dead in a devastating gas explosion in Kenya’s capital Nairobi.
Authorities in the East African country explained that the death toll has climbed to six as two more people succumbed to their injuries on Sunday while receiving treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital.
About fifty-two others are currently receiving treatment in different health facilities due to injuries sustained from the blast.
Recall that a lorry laden with gas cylinders exploded before midnight in a densely populated area of the city, destructive fires.
According to the authorities, the filling gas facility was twice removed and was declared illegal before coming back to business again.
Seven people are being sought by Kenyan authorities in connection with the incident, one of whom is Derrick Kimathi, the purported owner of the gas facility.
President William Ruto accused dishonest and inept government officials on Saturday of allowing the facility to continue operating in the much-populated area.
The inferno damaged houses, businesses and cars with video showing a huge blaze ripping through blocks of flats.
A local report says scores of the injured are said to have inhalation injuries and they include at least 25 children.
