African Union commences 47th ordinary session in Addis Ababa
The Forty-Seventh Ordinary Session of the African Union’s Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) commenced today in Addis Ababa, bringing together ambassadors from African Union Member States and AU officials.
Held under the theme “Educate an African fit for the 21st Century: Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa,” the session aims to address critical issues in education across the continent.
The primary objective of this meeting, as outlined by the AU, is to deliberate on various draft reports and formulate the agenda for the Forty-Fourth Ordinary Session of the Executive Council, scheduled to convene on 14-15 February 2024, also in Addis Ababa.
The opening ceremony witnessed insightful statements from both the Chairperson of the Commission and the Chairperson of the PRC, emphasizing the significance of fostering resilient education systems tailored to meet the evolving needs of Africa in the 21st century.
In addition to its role in shaping educational strategies, the PRC meeting serves as a vital preparatory phase for the upcoming 37th Ordinary Session of the AU Assembly and the 44th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council, scheduled to transpire from 14th to 18th February 2024.
