Burkina Faso: Military junta reshuffles cabinet, fires foreign affairs minister
Capt. Ibrahim Traore, the head of the junta in Burkina Faso, has dismissed the country’s foreign affairs minister in a mini-reshuffle.
According to a decree read on national television, Olivia Rouamba has been replaced with Jean Marie Traore Karamoko, the minister delegate for regional cooperation.
The former top minister had served in the position for about two years before his dismissal by the military regime.
Traore also chose Stella Kabre, the former Burkina Faso consul general in Milan, Italy, as the next regional cooperation minister.
The military junta in Burkina Faso announced in September that it foiled a coup attempt by security and intelligence services.
According to a government statement, officers and other individuals involved in the plan to cause instability in the country have been arrested.
Recall that Captain Traore led a military takeover to become Burkina Faso’s new leader after removing Paul Henri-Damiba, who had also come to power in January through a coup.
