Tudun Biri bomb accident: Nigerian Air Force denies responsibility
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has denied responsibility in a bombing that left many villagers killed at Tudun Biri village in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
No fewer than 30 villagers are feared dead after a Nigerian Air Force jet was reported to have mistakenly dropped a bomb at a Maulud celebration event in the northern Nigerian state.
Commenting on the alleged misfiring, the Air Force through its spokesman, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, explained that the air force has not carried out any air operation in Kaduna within the last 24 hours.
Commodore Gabkwet added that the air force is not the only Service operating combat armed drones within the region.
An emergency security meeting has been convened by the Kaduna State government to deliberate on the tragic event.
Meanwhile the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of 30 lives in the northern part of the country.
In an official statement released on Monday, Speaker Abbas conveyed his concerns over the incident, calling it “one too many.” He emphasized his distress at the loss of innocent lives engaged in lawful activities during the annual celebration.
Demanding a comprehensive investigation into the matter, Speaker Abbas called upon the Nigerian Army to leave no stone unturned in unraveling the circumstances that led to what he termed “a costly mistake.”
