South Africa: Three men in police net for sexually abusing children, dog
The South African Police Service has announced the arrest of three men accused of sexually molesting three children and a dog in an operation carried out with the assistance of the US Department of Homeland Security.
“As a result of these operations, three South African children who were used during the commission of the above offences were identified and a dog was saved,” the police said in a statement on Tuesday.
The SA Police identified the suspects as including a 63-year-old British citizen who was in the country illegally.
He is expected to be charged with bestiality, child grooming, and several counts related to child pornography, including manufacturing and distributing child pornography.
The second and third suspects, both 43-year-old South Africans, will be facing charges on several counts of child pornography, according to the BBC.
The police added that “The Operations will continue throughout the country to unravel a network of child sexual predators.”
Jellybeanz.org.za reports that 1 in every 3 South African children is sexually abused before the age of 16, and the rate of sexual abuse among boys exceeds that of girls.
