Messi announces decision on potential move to Europe
Argentina and Inter Miami star Lionel Messi has announced that he will not be returning to Europe for inter-club football competitions.
The new record breaking Ballon d’Or winner stressed that he’s done with European football adding that his attention is now on Inter Miami .
The Qatar 2022 World Cup winner finished ahead of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe to win the prestigious individual football award.
The Argentine moved to Paris Saint-Germain in 2021 and spent two seasons at the French capital.
He left the Ligue 1 giant for the Major League Soccer (MLS) side Inter Miami where he has started on a brilliant note.
Speaking regarding his chances of returning to Europe, Messi said he doesn’t see himself back there.
“Thanks to God, I had an extraordinary career in Europe and won everything I have dreamed of,” Messi told L’Équipé via Fabrizio Romano on X.
“Now that I have decided to come to USA, I don’t think I will ever return to playing in Europe.” He added.
Messi made to the limelight with Barcelona, where he won all available trophies including LaLiga, Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.
