Governor Soludo vows to end insecurity across Anambra State
The Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, a professor, said on Sunday that his administration is doing everything possible to end the rising level of insecurity in every nook and cranny of the state
He disclosed this at a special church service held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Awka to commemorate this year’s Independence Day.
Professor Soludo stated that his administration was committed to safeguarding the state’s security
He stressed that he has ordered the deployment of security officers to key areas throughout the state, while adding that more efforts are being made to increase intelligence gathering and sharing.
According to Soludo, some people are taking advantage of Nigeria’s current security situation to distribute fake news and misinformation.
“My government is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all. We are working hard to address the security challenges in the state, and we are confident that we will overcome them soon,” he said.
The southeast region has been facing raging insecurity. The Nigerian authorities often blame violent attacks in the region on the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) movement, which is fighting for a breakaway state in the region.
Anambra and other parts of the south-east have seen a sharp rise in attacks on security forces since IPOB launched an armed wing in December 2020.
