Minister breaks silence on Lagos-Ibadan expressway completion
The Minister of Works, Mr. Dave Umahi has finally spoken on the completion date of the Lagos-Ibadan express road.
Lagos-Ibadan express road is one of the busiest roads in Nigeria which links Ibadan, the Oyo State capital to Lagos (Nigeria’s largest city). It serves as a major link to other parts of the country.
The reconstruction project was awarded, 10 years ago under the administration of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, to two contractors namely Julius Berger Nigeria Limited and Reynolds Construction Company Limited.
Umahi stated, Tuesday, the project is going to be commissioned in mid-September while he was on inspection visit to the sites of ongoing and completed Federal Government projects.
“Construction work is ongoing on the last stretch of both sides of the expressway after several missed deadlines,” Umahi said.
The minister commenced the inspection tour at outer Marina Road, in Victoria Island, a project constructed under the SUKUK financing option by the Federal Government.
