One of the major responsibilities of the office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minster of Justice consists in counseling the State in all legal matters. It has the major role of promoting and enhancing justice for all, the rule of law and good governance. The year 2022 was a remarkable year in the Justice sector in the country, Malami gave sound and qualitative legal opinion to President Mahammadu Buhari, especially in the areas of economy, politics,
health, gender based violence, security, signing of mutual agreement and international cooperation.
With his sound legal views and collaborative support from relevant stakeholders Nigeria was saved from chaos and economic distress. The Ministry received 365 requests for Legal Opinion and 392 requests for contract approval during the period under review and all requests have been treated and approved.

(๐) ๐๐ก๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ญ The office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minster of Justice saw to the signing to law of the 2022 Electoral Act. The office gave support to review all the existing laws, providing a comprehensive and appropriate service to ensure that Nigeria and Nigerians get patriotic and deserving leadership through free, fair and credible elections. The Electoral Act 2022 guarantees constitutional rights of citizens to vote effectively, deployment of technology to engender clarity and transparency of the election process and minimize acrimonies arising from dissatisfied candidates and political parties.

In an effort to support the United Nations fight against global warming, the office of Attorney General of the Federation and Minster of Justice facilitated the signing into law of the Climate Change Act 2022.
This Act provides for the establishment of national climate change council, puts in place adaptive and mitigation measures to check the impact of climate change, regulate, and maintain low greenhouse emissions, set a carbon budget that can be spent in a year to minimize global warming, among others.
(๐) ๐๐๐ซ๐ซ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฆ (๐๐ซ๐๐ฏ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ก๐ข๐๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง) ๐๐๐ญ, ๐๐๐๐ – The office works round the clock to ensure that Nigerian legal system is up-to-date with existing laws. The Minister through the instrumentality of the law saw to the signing in to law the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022.
The Act is a legal, regulatory, and institutional framework for the detection, prevention, prohibition, prosecution, and punishment of acts of terrorism, terrorism financing, proliferation and financing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in Nigeria, in line with Article 41 of the Charter of the United Nations.
(๐) ๐๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ง๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐งโ๐ฌ ๐๐๐ญ๐ซ๐จ๐ฅ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐๐ง๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฒ Through the dogged determination of the Attorney General and Minster of Justice, Nigeria addresses oil theft including spending enormous resources on Pipeline Surveillance Security through the regular Armed Forces budgetary spending, and payments to Civilian Security Companies under unique Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangements. While attending Nigeria International Partnership Forum with the theme โScaling up International Economic Partnerships for Nigeria in a Post Covid – 19 Worldโ in New York, USA, Malami noted that the Buhari-led Federal Government of Nigeria has taken operational and strategic measures to enhance the fortunes of the nationโs petroleum sector through the signing into law of the Petroleum Industry Act, 2021 (PIA) after several years of Legislative processing and series of review.
In view of the monumental accomplishments and remarkable achievements recorded, it was not, therefore, surprising for Malami to have received the envious and prestigious national honour as the Commander of the Order of Niger (CON) by President Muhammdu Buhari in addition to awards as Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State (DSSRS) by the River State Governor Nysome Wike as well as Grand Commader of Ebonyi Hall of Fame (GCEHF) by the Ebonyi State Governor, David Nweze Umahi.
He was recognized at home (Kebbi State) with conferment of traditional titles among many trophies, encomiums and accolades received.
