UJOSS debunks missing, incarceration of South Sudanese journalists
The Union of Journalists of South Sudan, (UJOSS) has debunked a trending report that its members have been imprisoned.
The report alleged that “All journalists that covered the state event where the South Sudan President Salva Kir wetted his pants are missing one by one and some found dead.”
UJOSS, however, debunked the report in a statement signed by its President, Oyet Patrick Charles, on Saturday December 17, 2022.
“UJOSS has come across messages circulating on various social media
platforms alleging that a number of South Sudanese journalists have been arrested,” the statement reads.
It adds, “UJOSS, therefore, would like to make it abundantly clear that as per our records, at the moment, there is no journalist that has been arrested and no journalist is missing.”
