In a major step toward advancing Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine (STEMM) education, the Federal Government has secured approximately 170 hectares of land for the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, Kaduna State.

The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, confirmed this development after receiving Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State and Senator Sunday Katung in his office for the official presentation of the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O).

Dr. Alausa commended Governor Sani’s swift action in facilitating the land acquisition, describing it as a testament to his commitment to education and the development of Southern Kaduna.

“Governor Uba Sani has demonstrated remarkable dedication to the people of Kaduna. His swift handling of the Certificate of Occupancy and finalizing the land transfer to the Federal Government showcases his passion for advancing education,” Dr. Alausa stated.

The Federal Ministry of Education is working to ensure that the university commences operations by the 2025/2026 academic session, with efforts already underway to secure funding from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND).

Dr. Alausa expressed gratitude to Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima for his leadership in pushing the project forward. He also appreciated Governor Sani’s unwavering support for the initiative, which is expected to boost technical education and provide new opportunities for students in Kaduna and beyond.

“Together, we are working to create a brighter educational future for all Nigerians,” Dr. Alausa affirmed.

With the land now officially secured, the focus shifts to funding, infrastructure development, and ensuring that the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, becomes a center of excellence for STEMM education in Nigeria.
