Breaking: Tinubu Replaces Service Chiefs, Appoints Oluyede as Chief of Defence Staff

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made fresh changes to the leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces, appointing new Service Chiefs in a move aimed at reinforcing the country’s security framework.

General Olufemi Oluyede has been named the new Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa. Major-General W. Shaibu was appointed Chief of Army Staff, while Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke emerged as the Chief of Air Staff. Rear Admiral I. Abbas is the new Chief of Naval Staff.

Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye retains his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

The President expressed appreciation to the outgoing military leaders for what he described as their patriotic service and committed leadership during their tenure.

He charged the newly appointed Service Chiefs to enhance professionalism, vigilance, and unity within the Armed Forces as they take on their new responsibilities.

According to the Presidency, the appointments take immediate effects.
