Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, has applauded the outstanding performance of Super Falcons midfielder, Halimatu Ayinde, OON, during the recently concluded 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Ayinde, a native of Kwara State and midfield anchor for FC Rosengård in Sweden, played a pivotal role as a central and defensive midfielder throughout the tournament. Her commanding presence and tactical discipline contributed significantly to Nigeria’s historic triumph over host nation Morocco in the final, which took place at Rabat Stadium on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

The governor met with Ayinde shortly after the Super Falcons were officially received and celebrated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, on Monday, July 28, 2025.

During their meeting, Governor AbdulRazaq expressed immense pride in Ayinde’s accomplishments, describing her as a symbol of discipline, determination, and inspiration for young athletes across Nigeria.

“We’re proud of you, Halimatu. You’ve made Kwara and Nigeria proud with your performance, and you remain an inspiration to young athletes back home,” Governor AbdulRazaq stated.

In her response, Ayinde thanked the governor for his encouraging words and unwavering support, promising to continue representing Kwara and Nigeria with integrity and passion.

“Thank you so much, Your Excellency. I remain committed to being a positive role model for young talents and doing my best whenever I wear the national colours,” she said.
