The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has slated Saturday, June 28, 2025, for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mop-up exercise.

This was announced on Sunday in a statement issued by JAMB’s Public Communications Adviser, Dr. Fabian Benjamin.

According to the board, a total of 96,838 candidates are expected to sit for the mop-up exam. These include 5,096 spill-over candidates who faced biometric verification issues during the main UTME, along with 91,742 candidates who missed both the main and rescheduled exams.

Candidates are advised to begin printing their notification slips starting Monday, June 23, in preparation for the exercise, which will hold across 183 CBT centres nationwide.

In a firm stance on upholding examination integrity, JAMB revealed that 113 Computer-Based Test centres have been delisted due to technical failures and proven cases of malpractice. The centres are currently under investigation, and those found culpable will face prosecution.

The board disclosed that its investigations have uncovered organised malpractice syndicates involving school proprietors, tutorial centres, and even some JAMB officials. It commended the State Security Service, Nigeria Police Force, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for aiding efforts in dismantling identity theft and examination fraud rings.

JAMB assured affected candidates whose centres were deactivated that they would be reassigned to nearby towns. It also cautioned that impersonators, especially undergraduate students caught in the act, would face institutional expulsion and prosecution under the Examination Malpractice Act of 1999.

“In a bid to crack down on impersonation, particularly by undergraduate students, the board warned that institutions of those apprehended would be notified, and violators may face expulsion for breaching their matriculation oath, in addition to prosecution under the Examination Malpractice Act of 1999,” the statement said.

The first session of the mop-up exam is scheduled to begin at 8:00 am, with candidates urged to arrive at their designated centres at least one hour before commencement.
